As a child I remember playing around with my father's Leica camera. Every time he would find out I had moved the settings and taken one or two pictures. Of course by the end of the day he knew what I had done and I ended being sent to bed without dinner. By age seven or eight I got the best Christmas gift: a Kodak Brownie Reflex. From then on I spent my childhood reading, riding my bike or taking pictures (as it was then known the action of shooting images).
I have been an amateur photographer since then. My children used to run away and hide when they saw me holding a camera. From the Kodak I upgraded to a Polaroid, then to a Canon and finally to a Nikon. I made the big change a couple of years back when I switched to Digital and sold my Film camera.
I’m also a member of the SierraClub of New York.
By the time my children left home I started traveling to take photo classes at the New York International Center for Photography and in New Mexico at the Santa Fe Workshops. I also did some trip field (Morocco and Ireland) together with reknown teachers and fellow students. And by the time I went to Venice I felt I was good enough to do it on my own. While living in New York, I started shooting headshots at Central Park, and once a year I travel to New York to shoot babies and their families.
Here in Guayaquil I had a solo exhibition at the Centro Cultural Aleman.
Todavía guardo en mi memoria un precioso recuerdo: la cámara Leica de mi padre. Cuando la dejaba a mi alcance yo había mejor diversión que tomar algunas fotos con ella. Y por supuesto, usualmente movía los botones de exposición, apertura y enfoque. cuando llegaba del trabajo y veía lo que yo había hecho me mandaba a la cama castigada sin comer. Cuando cumplí siete u ocho años el decidió que lo mejor que podía hacer era regalarme una cámara Kodak Brownie Reflex. De ahí en adelante, el resto de mi infancia transcurrió entre libros, bicicleta y mi cámara. El siguiente regalo fue una Polaroid y mas adelante pude comprarme una Canon con lentes intercambiables. Finalmente termine utilizando una Nikon que me hizo tacaña con cuantas fotos tomaba. Los costos eran muy altos. Un par de años atrás me compre la Nikon Digital que me permite experimentar y tomar cualquier numero de fotos.

He sido una fotógrafa amateur desde ese entonces. Mis hijos solían salir huyendo cuando me veían con la cámara en la mano. Cuando llego la hora de tener los hijos adultos empecé a viajar para tomar clases en el Centro Internacional de fotografía en Nueva York y los talleres de fotografía en Santa Fe, Nueva México. También realice algunos viajes (Marruecos e Irlanda) acompañada de otros estudiantes y algunos de los mejores fotógrafos americanos. Cuando viaje a Venecia, sabia que ya estaba en condiciones de hacerlo yo sola. Los años que viví en Nueva York me dedique a hacer retratos en Central Park a artistas que necesitaban incrementar su portafolio y a la vez mi portafolio iba creciendo. Ahora viajo a Nueva York una vez al año para retratar a niños con sus padres.
